About

The British Psychodrama Association (BPA) is the professional organisation for psychodrama psychotherapists and sociodramatists in the UK and Ireland. The association was established in 1984 and exists to promote and encourage the use of psychodrama and sociodrama. The BPA is accredited by the UKCP and is the UK's accrediting organisation for psychodrama and sociodrama training schools.

The BPA is keen to protect the public and the good reputation of psychodrama and sociodrama. All psychodrama practitioners, trainers and trainees who are members of the BPA are required to abide by its Code of Practice and Code of Ethics.

There are four training organisations accredited by the BPA, in London, Oxford, Birmingham and in Scotland / north of England. Links can be found on the BPA website.

BPA membership is open to anyone who is interested in psychodrama and sociodrama, and has four categories: Trainer, Practitioner, Trainee and Ordinary membership. An important member benefit is the bi-monthly BPA publication TELE-tronic, the association’s newsletter. The BPA also hosts an annual conference which is open to all, and regional training events several times per year.

Since the 1980s, UK based psychodramatists and sociodramatists have written and published many handbooks and textbooks on psychodrama and sociodrama, and links to many of these publications can be found on the BPA website.

Information about the BPA, training schools, open workshops and psychodramatists is available at: www.psychodrama.org.uk

The BPA administrator can also be contacted via email: administrator@psychodrama.org.uk
