What is Educational Psychotherapy (EPT)?
Educational Psychotherapy is a highly effective way of helping children and young people to learn. It combines teaching and creative methods with a chance for children to explore and make sense of painful or traumatic experiences that might get in the way of learning and development.
See www.caspari.org.uk for more information about EPT.
I have experience of using EPT to work with children and young people who experience challenges with : learning; communication; social, emotional and mental health needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Often the children I work with struggle with their social behaviour and find it difficult to manage relationships with adults and peers. I work with children who are at risk of school exclusion and 121 therapy is tailored to the child.
I can also work therapeutically with small groups of children.
‘This member has completed UKCP Covid-19 Online Working Guidance’ and 'Working as an EPT online' training provided by Caspari Foundation.
I currently work as a 121 therapist with primary and secondary children (ages 4- 18), their parents /carers and school staff and am used to being part of a multi-disciplinary team. I have a particular interest in working with children who have been adopted or are in local authority care as well as those at risk of exclusion due to SEMH needs. I can offer assessments which support school staff and families to think about next steps for their child, short and long term therapy.
I am Course Director at Caspari Foundation where I lead the UKCP accredited Advanced Diploma in Educational Psychotherapy, teach on the courses and supervise qualified EPTs.
