PRACTICE
My counselling and psychotherapy practice is a peaceful place to address what is troubling you and regain your peace of mind. Therapy is centred on us carefully thinking about what is wrong, this work is a catalyst for loosening what's stuck and freeing you to move on.
I provide short term counselling for fast, focused work with a specific issue in mind. This might be relevant for you if you have never had therapy before or a recent event is troubling you.
I also work with longer term clients using psychotherapy. I am particularly interested in helping people get to the root of their problems and resolving them at that level. To extricate oneself from painful ideas and experiences is challenging and ultimately liberating work. When old wounds heal you are free to move on and become a more mature and better equipped adult. Unhealthy habits and destructive relationship patterns tend not to have the same allure once you have demystified them and defused their emotional charge.
I am an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor. In the 1990s I qualified as a psychologist and later trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and integrative counselling. I enjoy working with counselling clients of many different nationalities and I have treated an array of problems. Some of the issues I have worked with are,
* Depression, grief and loss
* Ethnicity, identity and belonging
* Work & study - obstacles and choices
* Sexuality, intimacy, safety, shame and guilt
* Loneliness, relocation, isolation and adjustment
* Stress, anxiety, jealousy, obsession and compulsion
* Relationships problems, conflict, abuse, trust and control
APPOINTMENTS
Appointments are available from 10:30 - 18:30, Monday to Thursday and cost £65.
Sessions last for fifty to sixty minutes and take place on the same day and at the same time each week. Before and after work appointments are the most popular, so if you can get to a lunchtime or afternoon session it is more likely we will be able to start quickly. If you need an early or late slot do still get in touch as people move on and slots become available.
LOCATION
I work in Stanton St. John which is a peaceful village two miles north east of Oxford – it’s a five minute drive beyond Headington. There is free parking immediately outside and there are bike parking places nearby. Public transport options for Stanton St. John are minimal.
WHAT NEXT?
Psychotherapy begins with getting in touch, speaking to a psychotherapist about what's troubling you is often the first step towards feeling better.
If you’re not still not sure about therapy do take a look at my website as you’ll find a resources page with links to helpful and illuminating websites, as well as other pages with information about me and how therapy works.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
